Dressing/profiling tools

Tools used for the dressing and/or profiling of conventional and superabrasive grinding wheels in order to restore the maximum performance of the grinding wheel based on the required machining. Choose the type, shape, and carat of the tool according to the dimensions and specifications of the grinding wheel and the type of grinding. The diamond carat must never be lower than our recommended values. The diamond must always be well-sharpened and cutting.

Single-point diamond tools have a more pronounced dressing action on the abrasive grain and are therefore more suitable for profiled grinding wheels and for wheels in roughing operations.
Multi-point diamond tools are to be preferred over single-point ones for dressing grinding wheels with linear peripheral bands, as they are less subject to breakage risks and more economical for the same carat. The dressing operation must always take place in the presence of an abundant coolant flow. To avoid thermal shock to the diamond, direct the coolant jet onto the dressing area before starting the process. The tool holder support must be vibration-free. The overhang of the dressing tool must be short (never exceed 2 times the diameter of the tool shank).
